Learn-Live-Share

MEA has a mission of preserving the skills and stories of Croatian maritime heritage. One way that Maritima Educare has accomplished this is through the development of the 3-month Long Term ESC volunteer program Learn-Live-Share. 3-EU participants are provided the opportunity to engage in experiential hands-on activities within a traditional maritime setting under the direction of skilled craftsmen. This learning period comprises the first part of the program. However, once sufficient maritime knowledge and experience is acquired, the volunteers then take what they have learned and practiced to the local schools on the island of Brac’. There they make presentations regarding the maritime heritage of their own individual countries and the merits of the European Solidarity Corps program. In addition, volunteers share their newly earned maritime skills with the students through various demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Learning the skills, living the skills through practice, and then sharing those skills with a younger generation is the basis of this maritime preservation program.
